Just as the Localism Bill has completed its 3rd reading in the House of Lords (the penultimate stage of the parliamentary process) and is expected to receive Royal Assent within the next month, the My City Too Ambassadors have published their Localism and Young People Pamphlet, calling to be given the right to vote in Local Referendums from the age of 14.
There is a real and pressing need to include young people in the creation of our neighbourhoods and communities and ensure they are part of the Localism agenda. The pamphlet is now available to download from out website and includes methods for how to involve young people in delivering Localism, what will help young people to participate and what you can expect from their involvement in return. In March 2011 The My City Too Young ambassadors held a seminar examining the impact of Localism on young people. The young ambassadors have questioned how they will be involved in both the forums and the referendums. Since the March event My City Too has been working towards producing a pamphlet that will capture all of their aspirations and ideas for including young people in the new Localism agenda.
