Developing skills through partnership working is playing an increasingly important role in the My City Too campaign and is an opportunity to build real and in depth dialogue between young people, designers, developers, councils and other decision-makers. The strength of the campaign lies in our partnerships and collaboration with a diverse range of organisations, groups and companies.
The Young Planners Programme has trained and supported groups of Young Planners in partnership with youth services and planning departments across London. The programme has also developed intergenerational and peer-to-peer training workshop formats to allow planning departments, youth services and young people to discuss local regeneration issues ensuring that boroughs are able to develop a youth participation strategy that meets their own objectives and places young people within the process at a local neighbourhood level.
My City Too’s Localism and Youth Participation seminar presented case studies from boroughs participating in the Young Planners programme, which highlighted the successful approaches and methods of youth participation taken by local authorities. Presentations were given by My City Too Young Ambassadors showcasing methods developed by My City Too demonstrating the benefits of each of the different approaches.
